Karl Rove’s book vs. REWORK - what the American People need to know - (37signals)

A tongue-in-cheek “attack” ad aiming to knock Rove’s book out of the #1 spot on Amazon and have REWORK take its place. Love it. I want more like this in publishing, as if The Daily Show were its own marketing branch.

The Future of Publishing - created by DK (UK) (via PenguinGroupUSA)

Really clever and well done. Strong suggestion.

I’m obviously on left. I realized too late that sporting the full neck beard throughout college means zero percent of these pictures have lasting appeal, but 37% comic appeal.

Everyone, this is Will, the latest in a line of my good friends that have come to Tumblr to compensate for the lack of real-life interaction with me that post-graduation has wrought.
This is us, back in 2005, on Will’s 21st birthday in college. Fellow English Majors, ruggers, and writers/editors, he’s DC and I’m NYC and we manage to make it work. I saw him get married to a wonderful girl last Fall, and have been lucky enough to already spend a day in New York together this year.
I strongly suggest you follow him for what’s sure to be wonderful dashboard enriching posts.

Watched this for the first time in years on Sunday night and liked it a lot more than I remembered. Maybe it was watching it with someone I love that loved it that did the trick.

It’s weird enough living in a country where a man can legally own an arsenal of machine guns, but his neighbor growing a pot plant will send a team of DEA agents kicking his door in with a no-knock warrant. But this goes even beyond that. If I go online today to HaveNoLifeAndBetOnSports.com and bet fifty dollars on the Bucks against the Celtics tonight, I’m a criminal. But some gazillionaire firm in New York can legally bet against the United States of America in unlimited amounts in a trade that has nothing to do with anything, but a guess about how many other people will make the same bet.

Jesus, are we a weird country.

Shorting America Rocks! - Matt Taibbi - Taibblog - True/Slant

Just discovered Taibbi’s blog. Sitting here reading, next to a grain of salt leftover from lunch. (This guy wants you to know you can only legally have a machine gun in two states. Important info).

Flavorwire » A Walking Tour of Astoria With Sam Lipsyte
I love this so much. Each picture took me back to the neighborhood I feel most at ease in, having spent 3.5 years of my life there. It’s great to have been reading Lipsyte for five years and have his new book come full circle for me. I’m exciting for the reading tonight and for tackling the book in the days to come.
