The Susan G. Komen foundation announced that it was going to stop it’s grants to Planned Parenthood, grants that helped fund breast cancer screenings and awareness.

Whenever a close minded, right wing nut job tries to undermine Planned Parenthood I always go to their site and donate a few bucks. Apparently I’m not the only one.

Planned Parenthood is an important organization that’s worth fighting for. Head over to their site and kick in a few dollars if you can.

City Has Highest Number of Marijuana Arrests in More Than a Decade - WNYC

Harry Levine, a professor at Queens College, said marijuana arrests have nearly doubled since 2005. The number of arrests made in the last half of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s tenure has exceeded the total number of marijuana arrests made under Mayors Giuliani, Dinkins and Koch combined.

I’m going to make a bold claim and say that last night I saw one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen, Pina, which is playing at BAM in 3-D.

As someone who knows very little technically about dance- I have not been able to stop thinking about movement since I left the theater. Each shot of this movie was amazingly well art directed with an incredible use of light, space and color. The tribute performances to Pina, which take place all over the German city of Wuppertal, each feel meticulously contained but yet explode with energy.
