Last Night’s Show
Vandaveer. Always really good. The new songs sounded great live. The crowd was packing in during their set, some people in the front sitting during the show. Really talented, it’s amazing they’re not more popular in America.
Megafaun. Ex-bandmates of Bon Iver, an artist I think is incredibly overrated and boring. However, Megafaun were excellent. A heavy sort of Americana with great harmonies, think Fleet Foxes with a bit of a bluesy edge. Very entertaining, though they attempted some discordiant segues that really sounded contrived and labored. On their new album, Gather, Form & Fly, it comes across much better. I’m contimplating setting a rule along the lines of “A banjo and MacBook should never grace the same stage,” but I’ll hold off until further tests are completed.

PantsPants is making sure I’m getting to the concert early enough to catch these openers.
