My Response to her response to my response…

The Blog War is over.

I had discovered that this page was being linked to by Cindy, only recently, on her blog of three years (demonstrating just how little we knew each other). The hyperlink text was: I detest this fucking wanker and read his blog to feel better about my own life.

Now, imagine my surprise to have affected someone I knew very little about (before reading her blog) to feel so strongly (apparently) about me! Upon discovering that (out of the blue), no jury would’ve convicted me should I have decided to link to her page with some choice words of my own, but instead I tried to figure out WTF was up with me and her.

And after two (plus) hours of catching up with Cindy via skimming posts since 2004, I could find almost no evidence why she detested me or my website so very much, and I threw down this gauntlet the next morning along with several of my own hypothesizes as to why I could be so hated by someone I barely knew.

She responded. (tired of these two links yet?) It was a very well written and sensitive post, reflective of most of her blog writing (go read it now). As I had guessed in one of my points, our interaction was essentially limited to the tense relationship of a RA vs her rowdy residents across the hall - a relationship neither of us asked for, nor made easy on each other. I commend her for not flipping her shit as much as she should’ve (I mean we did play loud music and drink long into the night, every night; and that’s not to mention the 300 gallon baby pool incident, nor the $1400 wrecking ball incident, nor the fact that our suite had unofficially become both the fraternity slush pit AND the rugby jump off point).

Basically, she knew me and my suite (of which she was responsible) in nothing but a negative light and I can’t blame her for associating our actions at the time with that of the typical debauchery of college. Therefore, apparently, this site served to remind her of such behavior and was labeled such “in jest.” There was no way for me to know in what context it was written (and even now I have to take her at her words), and thus my reaction was justified.

However, she does make many fair points (no one would voluntarily be friends with my exgirlfriend), I am a great editor :), I looked the same getting out of bed as I did in class, and ultimately she wasn’t blocking me on Facebook, she just had a different last name now (and we’re friends!). I won’t divulge her new name as it’s not on her site and that’s not my business. But my name is PeterWKnox and this is my site, I live in New York and I fucking love everything about it.

For her to be happy, in a committed relationship, and enjoying Baltimore, is terrific. Even more so, that she’s a site reader. And finally, she’s changed her blogroll link to my page, and I’m flattered:

The “W” is for “wanker”
