J.J. Abrams, a writer, director and executive producer of the hit television shows “Lost” and “Alias” as well as director of the latest “Star Trek” movie, is hoping to option the rights to adapt Colum McCann’s “Let the Great World Spin,” winner of the National Book Award for fiction.
