Answer: AH! BOOKS! My weakest point. I’m not well read in any sense but I can tell you my favorites/books that were influential to me.
The Grapes Of Wrath
Read it in school. Really enjoyed it and gave me good talking points with my grandfather. This literally was his life.
1984
Maybe it’s because I love futuristic ideology. Maybe it’s because this is the first book that ever pushed my thought processes and forced me to accept an alternate reality. It opened up my mind to truly original stories and was an inspiration to abstract one I try and come up with today. Regardless, this book is well written and holds a lot of pop culture references shared today.
Blankets
I have not read this yet but I am going to Barnes and Nobel tomorrow to buy it.
Gilead
A story revolving around the memoirs of a dying pastor in the 50’s. Thought provoking and captivating.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
In high school, I had two people with whom I spent a great deal of time tell me I was the main character in this book. It was pretty spot on. I changed because of it.
The Chronicles Of Narnia
Can’t read these too many times.
The Watchmen
One of my first graphic novels. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve read it and some of the pages are still etched into my brain. Phenomenal story.
Blankets is good, with surprise religious elements. Read it in one sitting.
