What a face…so many stories are captured within the lines on this face.Other than his inability to not read off a cue card, I was really impressed with his SNL hosting performance. Great comedic timing.
Yeah, he’s hilarious. He’s always had that problem while hosting SNL (was this is 3rd or 2nd time?). The centaur-HR skit is one of my favorites.
I was listening to Bill Simmon’s podcast in which he talked with Seth Meyers about SNL for an hour and they both talked about this episode. When the best sketches are nailed down on Wednesday, Mr. Walken took the scripts home with him that night - apparently a very rare thing for a host to do.
“He prepares more than any other host,” said Seth Meyers. He went on to talk about this cue-card problem, saying that Walken does it intentionally, as if he were playing a caricature of himself, with long dramatic pauses. Also, people don’t realize that apparently what most people believe is “acting” is really quite normal for his regular behavior. In other words, that’s just the way he is, and I’m glad for that.

(And perhaps also within the lines of lipstick. Oh. Sorry.)

the colors are piercing and scary at first, but his face carries so many textures and contours. it’s a bit addicting.
