Strange Days and Stranger Nights

Someone far more wise and famous than I once said, “There’s nothing less interesting than hearing about someone’s dream” and although that’s true, I’m not making you read this…

Two nights ago, I was in space and involved in some sort of an elaborate mission with my college friends. I distinctly remember floating around urgently in search of something and carrying out our orders in a competitive nature. The dream concluded with the very disturbing scenario that whatever airlocked room we were in was losing air pressure and soon we would all die. I felt the anxiety of my impending death and could sense my head beginning to explode due to the lack of pressure. I died and woke up.

Last night I got into graduate school, in my dream, which was weird because I didn’t even know I had applied or even wanted to go to graduate school. It felt like just as soon as I was settling into my life here, the only school I got into was University of Kansas. Why I would have applied there or felt that I had to go there was not explained, but I started checking out the school online before being transported there. I was wandering around with my parents, trying to get a feel for the place (Kansas, really?) and ran into Soup. He was leading a tour around the campus and I had to wait until he was done to catch up. “How far is this from New York?” I asked, but he just smiled his goofy smile and asked how I got here. A question for which I had no answer.

Why I remember these dreams and not the hundreds of others, I do not know.
