This feel right to me, but I can’t find a rule to back it up. Grammarians?
It’s not incorrect per se, but certainly awkward.
Why not “is now following this group”?
or: ‘has begun’...This feel right to me,...I can’t find a...
Maybe it would be better if it just said “so-and-so is now following this group”.
’is now following’ is less awkward and more time-conscious.
I think it sounds awkward because it’s an unnecessary adverb. I think. You don’t need the has to say, Jon Doe started...
