I got this awesome little program the other day. It’s called REC and it’s free from Apple. In the past, when I had a song idea that I wanted to get down really quickly, I had to use Garageband, which is a pain in the ass. GB takes forever to open, then you have to name your project, then you have to create an audio track, blah blah blah, three minutes pass and I’ve just thought too much about this guitar riff.

With REC, I click the icon on my dock, and in approximately 2 seconds I am ready to record a single track of audio through the mic on my computer. Finish, save it, done. It’s like jotting down a note - music style.

I love simple programs that make life 100% faster and easier.
